1500 !!!!

Wow 1500 page views.

The GSXR arrived yesterday and wouldn't start. New plugs and new fuel and it now lives.
I will start looking for an 1100 or 1200 motor for it very soon.
Took it for a sneaky little ride before, for a 25 year old bike it is quick.

New project

Yeah so it didn't take long for a new project to come along. I was thinking of doing a bobber cruiser for the wife or an FXR bobber but along came a GSX-R750 that I will turn in to a 7/11 street fighter.
I have always loved the 7/11 and wanted one badly when I first started riding road bikes but couldn't afford one and didn't have any knowledge of how to go about building one.
Now things are a little different (still really cant afford it) but I have a little more knowledge so here goes.

I bought this bad boy from Queensland and it is getting shipped down to me and I should have it next week.
Will get it registered first and then start looking for an 1100 motor that can go in it and then start the street fighter transformation.

There's always room in the garage for one more

Real life usage

So Bad Sushi has been rolling around for a couple of weeks now and I am finding the little things that need sorting out.

-The speedo was useless at night as the LED screen needs to aim right at your face to see it, easy fix bending the bracket I made.
-Carbys need balancing, this will get done by Geoff as he has the mad skillz
-Brake line needs replacing with a longer one, Geoff will take care of that too.
-The chain was eating the rear fender (see pic) bit of bending and a trim and its fixed.
-Throttle stuck the other day, oiled and checked, all seems fine.
-Left mirror kept moving, glue is your friend.
-Strange use of oil in the first 150kms, seems ok now after another 200km and no oil use.

Here are some pics first of last nights ride to dinner in Prahran and then along the beach home and todays ride the Healesville for lunch with my wife and a couple of friends.
Today we did about 200kms and both bikes ran sweetly and got a lot of attention in Healesville at our lunch stop.

Home made side covers

So I wasn't digging how Bad Sushi was looking around the battery area. So I did what any sane person would do, I made some.
I haven't painted them yet and will do them in matt black but from the pictures you get the idea.

I also mounted the rego label stash tube under the seat as there was nowhere else for it that didnt look shit

I guess this will be the never ending bike build.

They see me rolling......

So I have been riding Bad Sushi a bit and freaking dig her. She is so much fun to ride and handles really nice,

I have decided I am going to make a few small changes however as I am not 100% down with the look.
Going to change the headlight to a rectangle,
Going to enclose the battery with mesh,
And I will probably think of other things,

Bad Sushi smiling for the camera

So today I finally got to ride Bad Sushi. I must say it rides better than I thought it would.
Still a few little things that need altering but overall it is finished.

I need to get it tuned though, the re-jetting of the carbys to allow for the pod filters all needs tuning as it isnt pulling consistently through the rev range and today I didnt really care, was just enjoying the ride.

Even scored a FREE new clutch lever as the old one look ratty and Nath from bikes and bits thought it would look better.
Also have ordered a new braided line for the front so that can all go back to how it should be.

Enjoy the photos

Now to find the next project?????

Finished at midnight

I wonder what that means?

Pretty fucking stoked that the build is finished. Bad Sushi is alive.
A couple of minor things to change and adjust, but isnt that always the way?
Not bad for 2 months of work, really wish I had paid attention to the hours spent working on her.

Will take some more pictures later today after I have been for a ride on it.

This empty bucket means a lot to me, it's where all the various odd bits were kept.
Glad it's empty

A quick braket for the speedo pick up.
Must remember to paint that black

Very happy with it.

Close but no cigar !

I was hoping today would be the final build day of Bad Sushi but the friend and wiring guru had to leave earlier then I expected as he has something else on. That said he is coming back Tuesday night to finish it off.
A lot got done today,
New brake lever installed,
I re-jetted the carbys,
Installed the exhaust system.
I fitted the front and rear fenders.
Installed the rear indicators,
I got all of the wiring sorted for the back end.
Installed new fuel line.
Went and got lunch.
Tidied up.
All the while Geoff was cutting and playing with wires.

The highlight was firing it up, the video doesn't show the huge smile on my face. I so want to ride this thing !!!!!

Well that me fucked
