They see me rolling, they be hating

So I've bought myself a new bike, a 2012 VZR1800, M109Rz, Suzuki Boulevard. Yeah a stupid long name but who really cares?
Well clearly some people do. It has been very interesting to see and hear peoples opinion on me selling my Harley in favour of the Suzuki.
Some think its a good thing and others think I have lost the plot. I am quite surprised that this has attracted so much discussion.
It seems that if you have a Harley you aren't allowed to get rid of it in favour of a Japanese motorcycle?

Anyway, as always, what someone thinks of me is none of my business.

I love my new bike, its different and awesome to ride.

I have often seen this sign on bikes in stores and thought, how lucky for the new owner,
Was nice to see it this time and know its mine

Gratuitous my the ocean shot

Looking forward to a new adventure on a new bike

Only a max of 7 build days to go

Spend the last 5 hours in the garage working on the bike, I kind of feel like I didn't do a lot but I kind of did really.

Finished off the mounting stuff for the rear fender and put a few coats of paint on it once I'd finished with that.
Finished off the tank with fuel cap and fuel tap and then mounted the tank.
Finally got the right hand side grip on and installed the right hand mirror.
Tidied up and swept the floor.
I guess it's a decent effort but I dont feel like I did enough?

Needs more stickers

Fender on

The wing nuts are not part of the bad sushi japanese bike thing

Stop !!

Just love this thing, so much time and energy has gone in to this tank.

Up it the air again, without the jack stand I wouldn't have been able to do this I recon

Cant wait for a pic with the fender on and all the electrics installed.

Saw this little fella this morning while out walking the dog and thought it photo worthy.

A Non Bad Sushi related post

So today I got more work done on my arm. Pretty fucking impressed with how its going.
Cant wait for it to be finished.

Also today I test rode an M109R and fucking loved it. Such an awesome bike to ride. Once I sell my Harley I will buy one of these bad boys immediately.

So today was going to be about clear coating the tank as I was hoping to get that back last night but I didn't get it until lunch time today. The wait was certainly worth it !!!!

While I was waiting I though I should keep busy with something useful so I got started (basically finished) the fender struts. Just need to find the right bolts and wing nuts. I did drill some extra "speed" holes in the fender struts but didn't take a picture, also thinking of mounting the rear indicators off the struts?

Anyway, the tank now has a clear coat drying on it. Hopefully I can finish it sometime tomorrow as I want to get as many coats as I can on to it to protect it.

Next step, mount the tank and rear fender.

Strutty goodness

and they will go roughly here

cant go further back due to brake caliper

an artist at work

Hooray for Kabuki Hannya masks

Cant wait to mount this to the bike for good

Can you read Japanese?

Not much done today

Didn't do a lot today, was planning on clear coating the tank back it isn't back from getting its artwork yet (should be later today) so I will do that tomorrow, once the tank is sorted I can mount it finally.
What I did do was exhaust wrap the headers (not a fun job) made a bracket for the speedo and one for the electrics, fitted the headlight and front indicators.
Tomorrow while waiting for coats of clear to dry I will have a crack at sorting out the rear fender.

Wrap

Brackets in primer

Deadline.

I now have my own personal deadline and its the 8th of July.
Going to do my best to make sure the bile is finished (or at least ridable) by the 8th.
This gives my a about 2.5 weeks to complete the list is the last post.

I think it is realistic.............

When I am not working on bikes or riding I am cutting people open or stabbing them with large needles

Get forked

Finally my fork inners came back all new and pretty looking. Literally jumped in the car and down to the bike shop so they could rebuild them for me. I arrived as one of the guys finished up a job so they got straight on to rebuilding the forks.
Two hours later I got back there and they were ready so you know what that means........
Yup, straight home to put them where they belong.
Amazing how much more it looks like a bike with a wheel on it.

So excited I stopped for a picture

Hopefully at the end of next weekend the tank, front guard and back wheel will be on.

Here is a clip of me riding my FXDB with a Contour Roam camera attached to the side of my head.

Free beer

So I am thinking that in two weeks the bike should be finished (apart from the electrical stuff). Called the hard chromers yesterday and they said they would send back the fork inners Monday or Tuesday so once they come back I can have the forks rebuilt.
My new rear tyre should be in last in the week and my wheel bearings have finally arrived.
So next weekend will be fun as it will all go back together and be standing on its own tow wheels.

Finally settled on artwork for the tank, which inspired me to finish off the paint today. Cant wait to see that finished. Also made up a little bracket for the ignition which I have relocated just because I can.

My tool chest also needs more stickers, if you got them please send them to,
PO Box 2145 Prahran Australia 3181
Cheers

The wheel bearing that have been sent 3 times, I wonder if the two sets that got lost in the mail will ever show up?

The future (tank) is so bright I have to where shades.

Sorry there is no free beer, it was only a cunning ploy to get you to read this.

Everyone loves a quicky

Not much going on, just  got off the phone with the chromers and have been told my folks inners should be ready Monday. This is very good news.
Also got my fuel cap and fuel tap this week.

A picture from Throttle on Thursday, a regular motorcycle meet up I attend.

Rear Fender

At a point now where I need to start thinking about the rear fender. Its doing my head in as I cant decide if I should mount it on the swing arm or the rear of the frame.
One has the fender close to the tyre at all times but might not leave space for the brake light I have and the other will have the fender sitting high above the tyre which I am not sure I want.
Here are a few pics of what it might look like, opinions welcomed.

Up on high or

hugging that bitch?

and here is a pic of one of our cats wearing a hot water bottle cosy looking very unimpressed

No more until parts arrive

I am pretty much stuck right now. Cant really do anything until some parts show up.

Did get a lot done today in the 5 hours I worked on Bad Sushi, I should be paying myself by the hour for this, I would have enough money to buy another bike.

Todays efforts included but were not limited to,
- Triple clamps
- Sprocket cover
- Handle bars
- Rear brakes
- Choke
- Clutch cable
- Gear shift
- Painted coils (as they looked garbage in the natural beige)
- Carbys
- sitting on it making broom broom noises

Getting there

Really need to settle on wear I want the tank and mount it

Coils in black

Biltwell bars

Now you dont even notice the coils

And here is a random selfy I took with my new mate

Waiting on,

New back tyre,
New wheel bearings,
My mechanic mate to come help with all the wiring.
